• The course aims to provide an answer to the question about what a Product Owner does. We start out by exploring perceptions of product ownership and lay out the different aspects that the course will cover that help to answer that question.

  • A significant part of the course focuses on User Centred Design (UCD). We look at what UCD is, how it works by examining Lean UX , the tools typically used and of course user needs.

  • We also provide an understanding of agile, by examining the Manifesto for Agile Software Development and forming a robust understanding of the agile values and principles, and their impact and affect on working culture. This is key to ensuring the right engagement with stakeholders, users and the team.

  • Scrum is most commonly used as the basis for digital delivery so, we provide an overview of scrum to help product owners understand how, when and where to engage with their team. We use this as a basis for starting to define the role of Product Owner.

  • UCD and scrum are two distinct approaches often used together, so the course looks at the different approaches that make that work throughout the delivery lifecycle.

  • The work to ensure value is delivered to users needs to be organised. So the course covers the creation, refinement and maintenance of a backlog to align the team with value delivery.

  • Leading on from backlogs, the course covers work items themselves, typically user stories, explaining what they are and how to use them.

  • Product owners need to engage with lots of different people. So they need to have a good set of soft-skills. The course provides an overview of the most useful and looks at how to identify, adopt and practice those skills that might not come naturally to us as individuals.

Our Product Owner course provides a concise and robust understanding about Product Ownership.

The course covers the basics of agile product ownership, explaining how an agile approach with user centred design can be used to identify and understand users needs and determine an appropriate solution.

It provides the knowledge and skills to effectively manage stakeholders - ensuring transparency with users feedback informing the continuous improvement of the product or service, ensuring the delivery of real value.

We help delegates understand how product owners need to engage with their delivery team, providing the alignment that the team needs.

Being a Product Owner is about more than just delivering the right product, it's also about leading the creation of the environment and providing inspiration for innovation.

Who's it for?

Our Product Owner course is for anyone involved in identifying, managing, analysing and prioritising the needs and requirements of users and customers.

It's suitable for Product Owners, Business Analysts and User Researchers - whether you are new to the role or not.

This course can also be of significant benefit for anyone who has learned to be a Product Owner using an agile framework or method but is struggling to make it work.

Why should I attend?

Unlike other courses we not only explore the Product Owner role but we also ensure you understand what it means to be agile and provide you with lots of practical tools and techniques that you can use for different situations.

With all of our courses we don't want to talk at you, we want to open up discussion and give you the chance to try out what you're learning.  We also want to talk about real examples and situations of Product Ownership in agile settings, to bring the theory to life.  That makes our course very interactive and provides the opportunity to learn the role in a safe environment.

We help you think differently with an agile mindset to solve problems, work better with others, understand what value means and where to spend your energy.

Our course will challenge the way you think as well as help you learn more about this particular role.
